Motorists head to Sklou to meet exiled youth leader

The participants of a motor race organized by youth activists are in the eastern city of Mahiliou.  They aim to visit their fellow associate Artur Finkevich who is currently serving a forced labor term in this city.

The race, devoted to the birthday of Zmicier Dashkevich, an imprisoned leader of the Malady Front, the youth pressure group, kicked off on July 19 in Minsk. However, police detained the vehicles rights after exit from Minsk.

The action participants had to use public transport to follow the planned route.

Today, the action activists plan to reach the city of Sklou where Dashkevich is serving his term in a local correction facility. They want to congratulate the young political prisoners with his 26th birthday and will try to pass a birthday cake over to him.

The youth activists are also expected to demand that the colony's administration allow Dashkevich to have an appoinment with his parents.

The press service of the Malady Front said that police in the city of Saligorsk today detained one of the drivers, participating in the action, who was heading to Mahiliou.
