Moratinos: Spain advocates complete normalization of relations between Belarus and EU
Spain is interested in starting its presidency in the EU with the total normalization of relations between Belarus and the EU.
The Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Moratinos informed about it after the negotiations with the Belarusian Foreign Minister Syarhei Martynau.
According to the diplomat, Spain would also like to sign a basic agreement between Belarus and the EU to determine their relations during its presidency that will start on January 1, 2010. In particular, Moratinos noted:
“We should completely refuse from sanctions as an outdated means in order for it to happen. We advocate the dialogue and we are happy that our attempts to include Belarus in “Eastern Partnership” were successful”.
