Belarus police say demand is higher for male prostitutes

Services of male prostitutes have become increasingly popular in Belarus recently, deputy chief of the Office for Drug Control and Combating Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Syargei Koltun said in a statement recently.

According Mr Koltun, there are 1.950 male prostitutes, of which 860 are  now registered with the  Belarusian police in Minsk. About 60 men who offer sexual services for both women and men are currently registered with the police.

In 2014, 1,377 people were punished for prostitution, in every third case the offender was taken into custody, BelaPAN reports.
