Metropolitan Pavel: Lukashenka is a normal Orthodox person
The head of the Belarusian Orthodox Church has given a press conference in Minsk today.
He was asked about his attitude to Lukashenka calling himself ‘an Orthodox atheist’. “He is a normal Orthodox person. It was not want he really meant. We discussed it with him,” Nasha Niva quotes Metropolitan Pavel.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka ‘wanted to say that he was not a churchgoer, the head of the Belarusian Orthodox Church explained. However, ‘he is a religious Orthodox person’.
