Memorial shield to hockey player Ruslan Salei set up in U.S.

The memorial shield has been placed near the Honda Center, the home arena of the ice hockey club Anaheim Ducks, where Salei achieved his biggest success. "Ruslan Salei starred in the National Hockey League for 14 seasons", the shield says. The National Hockey League players and employees collected money for the shield.


Ruslan Salei (1974 — 2011) - one of the most famous Belarusian hockey players, defender, captain of the Belarusian national team. He played 917 games in the NHL regular seasons, got 204 points, played 62 games in the Stanley Cup, got 16 points. He played for Anaheim, Florida, Colorado, Detroit. Salei died in the air catastrophe together with the team "Locomotive" on September 7, 2011 during taking off at the airport in Yaroslavl. He was buried at Moscow cemetery in MInsk. No one will play under his number 24 in the Belarusian team.
