Maskevich: Teachers' salaries to be increased after optimization (video)
The Minister of Education announces when teachers can expect their pay rise.
"It will happen after the optimization of the educational institutions network," he said (it means that some schools will be closed down). "The money saved this way will be used to increase teacher's salaries," BelTA reports quoting the Minister.
The optimization is supposed to be finished by the next academic year, Maskevich said. "The budget will be used for this purpose too," he added.
The teachers' low salary issue was mentioned during Alyaksandr Lukashenka's recent press conference. He promised to increase them.
