The Belarusian diplomat said they had a very interesting discussion with Sergey Lavrov about the development of the Eastern Partnership initiative. According to Makey, "Belarus has been, is and will be opposing attempts to give this initiative of our European partners the confrontational nature."

The two sides also discussed the armed conflict in the east of Ukraine. "We believe that the agreement in Minsk today is the only effective mechanism for the resolution of the situation," stated Makey.
