Makei: Belarus and EU pursue same objectives

Belarus and the EU pursue the same objectives in the sphere of security, trade and economic cooperation, citizenship and state, Belarusian Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei said. There is a thaw in Belarus-EU relations, he noted.

"Fortunately, both sides have managed to overcome some psychological issues that used to lead to certain non-acceptance of one another,” BELTA quotes Makei.

Belarus is not going to stop halfway in its relations with the EU, Makei noted. Our country is ready for the next steps that require efforts from both sides. Minsk thinks that the increase in the turnout with the EU is essential. It would help strengthen our economy and secure the country’s independence.

Uladzimir Makei traditionally noted that Belarus was conducting a multi vector policy.
