Lukashenka’s press service “Meeting to discuss categorical assistance has not occurred”

The meeting to discuss social categorical assistance announced by Alyaksandr Lukashenka in October and assigned for November 6 has not taken place. The head of the President’s press service Pavel Lyohki has confirmed it to ERB.
Furthermore, Mr. Lyohki was surprised to hear that it had been supposed to take place:

“The President had working visits assigned for November 6 and we informed about it. I don’t know anything about such a meeting…

Anyway, I am sure there will be no meeting tomorrow. That’s what I can tell you”.

Let us remind you that it was noted that only 50 or 60 million BRB was planned to be allocated for categorical assistance although the benefits cancellation would give 160 billion BRB. It was mentioned during the discussion of the project of the budget for the next year organized by deputies of the House of Representatives.

The Minister of Finance Mikalai Korbut explained the issue in his interview with “Komsomolskaya Pravda v Belarusi”:

“I will explain everything after November 6. We will discuss the project of the order with the President and take a decision”.

Lukashenka confirmed it during a meeting with Russian journalists on October 12:

“We have cancelled all of them and we are going to introduce new benefits for those who need them. First of all they will be given to the handicapped and families having many children. The document is ready and it is on my table but I’d like to discuss it with members of the government”.

Our radio also informed about it referring to the President.

By the way, Lukashenka did not attend the ceremony of opening of new stations of Minsk underground on November 7 for some reason. He sent the head of the Administration Henadz Nyavyhlas instead.
