Lukashenka “gives way” to establishment of Euroepan Commission’s representative office

Alyaksandr Lukashenka has approved of the establishment of a representative office of the European Commission in our country and granted it immunity and privileges in the framework of the project of the agreement between Belarus and the European Commission.
According to the project, the Belarusian authorities should agree to the establishment of a representative office of this organization in our country. The head and employees of the office and their relatives living in Minsk will be granted diplomatic immunity and special rights.

In particular, the official Minsk promises Europeans inviolability of the office, correspondence and archives, immunity to criminal jurisdiction and tax benefits.

The deputy Minister of Foreign Affaires of Belarus Valery Varanetski has been assigned to conduct negotiations concerning the agreement.
