Lukashenka: CSTO is used insufficiently

Лукашэнка лічыць, што АДКБ выкарыстоўваецца недастаткова

The Collective Security Treaty Organization is used insufficiently, Alyaksandr Lukashenka thinks. He announced it at the meeting with CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha in Minsk on February 9.

The CSTO should demonstrate its readiness to protect its members’ security, Lukashenka said. CSTO neighbours should also have a hope for security, BELTA quotes Lukashenka.

These issues were discussed at the last meeting with Vladimir Putin and Dmitri Medvedev,  the Belarusian state leader said.

Lukashenka: “We spent half the time discussing the important issues of our security with the Russian President: the western direction, Ukraine in the south, Syria and the relations between the Russian Federation and Turkey. It no longer affects only Russia (the main regional player). It is starting to affect us too.”

The situation in the CSTO member states is stable especially in comparison with Europe and the Middle East, Nikolai Bordyuzha replied.
