Alyaksandr Lukashenka has heared out the report on the final versions of the Tax Code and Belarus’ budget 2019.

The President paid special attention to Russia’s oil tax maneuver. Belarus has not managed to reach an intergovernmental agreement on compensation for it. The economic conditions in the EAEU and the Union State will worsen again for Belarus as a result of these changes, Lukashenka stressed.

"Belarusians’ concerns are putting me on my guard. There is no need to worry. This is the government’s problem and we must solve it.  Nothing will collapse even in the worst case. 2019 is not even an issue. You can live and work calmly. If we do not reach an agreement, the impact of the tax maneuver will be gradually increasing in 2019-2024. We may lose $400-500 million in 2019. This is a lot of money but it is not a catastrophe for the country,” Lukashenka’s press service quotes the President.

The government will have ‘to reform the internal and foreign policy to some extent’, the President claimed. “The reforms will mostly apply to the financial sphere,” he stressed.
