Lithuanian Ambassador refuses to visit Belarusian NPP construction site

Lithuanian Ambassador to Belarus Evaldas Ignatavičius ahs refuted Minsk’s invitation to visit the constructions instead of the Belarusian NPP. The Belarusian authorities suggested that he personally saw all the safety measures taken during the construction of the nuclear power station.

Ignatavičius said that experts should assess the nuclear safety instaed of diplomats, charter97.org refers to the agency BNS. The International Atomic Energy Agency should check the nuclear safety at the future NPP, the diplomat stressed.

 

The Lithuanian MFA sent a diplomatic note to Belarusian Ambassador to Lithuanian Alyaksandr Karol last week. It was connect with reports about structures that had collapsed during the building of the NPP. However, representatives of the NPP replied that there had been no indents during the construction of the NPP near Astravets. Furthermore, the Belarusian authorities invited the Lithuanian Ambassador to see the safety measures observed at the NPP in person.
