Kalinkina: Situation exceeds absurd limits

“Narodnaya Volya” has already stopped counting the newspaper’s warnings.
The newspaper “Narodnaya Volya” is going to appeal another warning pronounced by the Ministry of Information in court. The deputy editor-in-chief Svyatlana Kalinkina has informed Euroradio about it on air.

Kalіnkіna: “We have decided to go to court to appeal the warning. The situation is exceeding the absurd limits because warnings are being pronounced in absolutely inoffensive situations. We can expect to get a letter from the Ministry informing that the newspaper is closed tonight or tomorrow morning. We do not know what the Minister of Information means now”.

Let us remind you that “Narodnaya Volya” was warned for its September article “Who will hear the motto “Leave!”. The Ministry of Information thinks that it contained appeals of “Young Front” – an organization that is not registered in Belarus. Svyatlana Kalinkina has noted that there were no appeals.

Kalinkina: “There were no appeals. There were no statements made by “Young Front” in that article. Our journalist simply presented information about the campaign and interviewed the leader of the youth organization Zmitser Dashkevich”.

According to Kalinkina, the editorial staff is already unable to count the number of warnings pronounced to the newspaper.
