IMF mission expected in Minsk on November 9

A mission from the International Monetary Fund is scheduled to visit Belarus on November 9. The IMF delegation will be led by Peter Dolman, reports Interfax-West.  The mission will stay in this country for ten days.

Belarus hopes to get a fresh loan from the IMF worth $3 billion. However, the fund expects structural reforms to take place in Belarusian economy before the sides can negotiate loans. A delegation from IMF led by David Hoffman visted Minsk in July 2015. The sides reached an agreement to continue dialogue on the issues that were to be addressed by Belarus in order to prepare the ground for a new loan program.

When Belarus president Alialsandr Lukashenka visted the UN summit in New York in September 2015 he met IMF chairwoman Christine Lagarde.
