Human rights defenders fined Br3 million each
Minsk Soviet District Court has fined Ravyaka and Labkovich for an unauthorized event.
The human rights defenders were accused of participation in an unauthorized picket. They gave out leaflets with Ales Byalyatski’s photos to passers-by in the centre of Minsk on August 5.
The sentence is illegal, Tatstsyana Ravyaka thinks.
Ravyaka: "I cannot say that the sentence is mild or something... I can say that it is illegal. I do not consider my activities to be an administrative violation. I think the way the police and the court qualified my actions is wrong.”
She will appeal the sentence within 10 days, the human rights defender said.
