German politician: Belarus may become a EU member
Belarus and Ukraine have a possibility to become new members of the European Union, said German Norther Rein-Westphalia MP Werner Estmayer, according to Belapan. The German politician voiced this view during a plenary session of the international conference "Building A Common European House Together" on September 29 in Kiev.
He is confident that on certain conditions of the democratic development of these two countries, Belarus and Ukraine will be given an opportunity to become members of the united Europe. He noted that civil initiatives would play a big role in building relations between the countries.
The conference is taking place in Kiev from September 28 to October 2. Nearly 300 participants from NGOs and foundations from Germany, Ukraine and Belarus are taking part.
