German Minister for Foreign Affairs intends to appeal to Lukashenka to stop repressions

German Minister for Foreign Affairs Guido Westerwelle intends to appeal to Aliaksandr Lukashenka so that the latter refused from repressions at presidential elections, during his visit to Minsk. He said so in his interview to Suddeutsche Zeitung, published on October 30. "We are not going to interfere into the pre-electoral struggle, but we will make it clear any state repressions before the elections would worry us a lot,  — cites the words of the Minister "Suddeutsche Zeitung". — We will underline that clear pre-electoral struggle should prescribe free access to mass media in order to be effective enough for the parties and the civic society".

Guido Westerwelle stated: in case Belarus choses democratic course its' further getting closer with Europe will be possible, reports BelaPAN.

Let us remind you that the meetings of Guido Westerwelle and his Polish colleague Radoslaw Sikorski with Aliaksandr Lukashenka, the Head of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Siarhej Martynau, oppositional presidential contenders and representatives of civic society are scheduled on November 2. 

According to Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs "both Ministers wish to convey a clear European message connected with presidential elections to the Belarusian side".
