Euroradio presents: Guantanamo single by Nizkiz

Guantanamo was written quickly and naturally, the musicians said.

“There were two or three rehearsals and the song was ready. We are very happy that it appeared naturally, without the so-called throes of creation,” drummer Zmicer Haliaukin said.

The decision to write the first song in Belarusian appeared after the band’s joint performance with Biaroza band :B:N:.The musicians decided to write a new song instead of translating one of the old ones.

“To tell the truth, I didn’t want my old songs to be translated into other languages because I put some of my thoughts and wishes into them,” frontman Aliaksandr Iljin explained. “I would not feel the same way after listening to a translated song.”

Nizkiz are working on their second studio album now. The disc will be out in March. “There are no Belarusian songs in the new album at the moment. But everything may change at any time,” Zmicer Haliaukin intrigued. “If any of the musicians come up with a good idea – no problem!”

Aliaksandr Iljin is more serious about the language issue:

A Belarusian album is the highest level of achievement and self-knowledge for me. The inner feelings are much deeper than just paying tribute to the language.”

Guantanamo and other tracks will be performed by Nizkiz live at the Minsk club TNT on December 14 and at the Mahilou club Cuba at a joint concert with Mutnajevoka on December 21.
