EU welcomes release of Belarus dissidents

Benita Ferrero-Waldner, EU Commisioner for External Relations and Neighborhood Policy, has welcomed the released of Andrei Kim and Siarhei Parsiukevich from Belarus prisons, reports Interfax.
She expressed hope that this positive momentum would be contitnued to allow the European Union and Belarus to build closer relations soon.

The EU commisioner also described the release of Kim and Parsiukevich along with the recent release of Alexander Kozulin as "a hopeful sign", stressing that the EU had consistently called for Belarus "to make steps towards respecting the European values of democracy and human rights".
