‘The Belarusian issue’ will be discussed at the meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on February 15, BelaPAN reports quoting the press service of the Council of the EU. No other details have been reported.

The European Union must make a decision about the sanctions imposed on Belarusian representatives by February 29. All the sanctions are frozen at the moment. 171 physical and 10 legal entities are affected by the sanctions in Belarus. The sanctions imposed on Alyaksandr Lukashenka and his elder sons Victar and Dzmitry, CEC chairperson Lidziya Yarmoshyna, Minister of Information Liliya Ananich, KGB chief Valery Vakulchyk and his predecessor Stsyapan Suharenka are suspended now.

There are four people on the black list now. The EU considers them to be connected with the disappearance of opposition politicians in Belarus in 1999-2000: Uladzimir Navumau (ex-Minister of Internal Affairs), Victar Sheiman (ex-head of the President’s Administration), Yury Sivakou (ex-Minister if Internal Affairs) and Dzmitry Paulichenka (commander of an MFA special mission unit).
