Entrants know English better than Belarusian and Russian

Some entrants threw dice to answer questions during the centralized tests and some people used bad language in their papers. Entrants showed worse results this year in comparison with the last year. The best average grades were registered English – 38, former schoolchildren and pupils from grammar schools and lyceums scored more than 35 grades in geography, history and social science. The average grade in Belarusian and Russian was 31.

About 600 guys and girls will not get their certificates – they have not received any grades. The majority of zero grades are registered in mathematics and physics. Only 84 entrants have managed to get 100 grades this year.

"It means that it is possible to do the tests in the given period”, - noted the head of the Republican Institute for Knowledge Control Mikalai Fyaskou at a press conference in Minsk.

By the way, 514 foreigners have taken part in the Belarusian tests this year. 426 of them were Russians. According to Mikalai Fyaskou, some Russian higher educational institutions accept our tests.

"Every year a group of people want to get their certificates as soon as possible. They take them to Saint Petersburg and the region. The test results are usually 15-20 grades and the university administration accepts them. We do not do anything like this”.

By the way, Fyaskou has noted that some entrants left within the first 30 minutes and others threw dice to answer questions. Some entrants managed to score 40 points that way!

"Those using guesses leave within the first 30 minutes. Those who answer simple questions leave an hour later, and those who get the average grades stay for the last hour”.

Mikalai Fyaskou has added that there were cases when entrants used their CT papers “in a wrong way” in Minsk and Vitsebsk. They addressed the centre using bad language.

"We did not use to pay attention to it. However, we have complained to the police about them this year. These people are known and I think the police will deal with them”.

Nevertheless, the number of such infringers has decreased this year. Only 55 people were made to leave for using their cell phones. However, according to Fyaskou, the infringements were insignificant; the majority of people just forgot to take their phones out of their bags and turn them off.

"Bringing and using phones is forbidden. The majority of the people managed to bring them to the tests. Personally, I sympathize with them but I am satisfied as an administrator. 55 people are not that many and if their phones started ringing they had to leave. It is forbidden and people should learn the rules”.
The number of people who did not take the tests has decreased together with the number of infringers – 2% in comparison with the last year’s 8-10%.

172 thousand people have taken part in the tests this year; they have taken 466 thousand tests. The last reserve certificates will start being given out on July 8 and it will be possible to receive CT certificates by the end of the year.
