The European Union will soon cancel the visa regime for Ukrainian and Georgian citizens. The visa-free regime will be introduced in the middle of 2016, the German newspaper Die Welt reported on December 9.

According to the edition’s diplomatic sources, the European Commission will make a report about Kiev and Tbilisi’s fulfilment of terms for the cancellation of the visa regime on December 15.

The commission’s conclusion will be the basis for the EU member states’ agreement on the visa regime cancellation for the citizens of these states. Kiev will still need to improve the work in some spheres including the anti-corruption drive by eths p[ring of 2016, the newspaper notes.

The cancellation of the visa regime will allow Georgians and Ukrainians stay in the EU without a visa for three months every half a year. They will not be allowed to work in the European Union, Deutsche Welle reports.
