Detentions of activists of democratic movement in Belarus

Preventive detentions for activists of the democratic movement are taking place in different regions of the country. It is happening on the eve of a festive action dated for the 90th anniversary of the Day of Will that is going to take place in Minsk today. An activist of the movement “For Freedom” Kanstantsin Balahur was detained in Brest this morning. Policemen stopped his car and said they had information about a false number plate on it. Balahur was heading for Minsk but was delivered to the police office.

A car with activists Dzyanis Turchenyak, Andrei Sharenda and Mihail Illin had been detained several hours before. The reason for it was information that the car had been stolen and had false number plates. Turchenyak’s car was delivered to Maskouski police office and the passengers were let off. They are trying to find another way of getting to the capital now, informs BelaPAN.

Four activists of “BNF youth” were detained in Vitsebsk on the evening of March 24. They were walking along streets after an action in honour of the BPR that had been held near the monument to Uladzimir Karatkevich. Everyone was let off after an interrogation. Only Alyaksandr Kuznyatsou had to stay and wait for his trial.

Kuznyatsou spent the night in the confinement cell in spite of the fact that he was a handicapped child’s father.
