Detained reporter Alyaksandr Berazenka goes on hunger strike

The detained journalist, Belsat reporter Alyakasndr Barazenka, in on hunger strike. He is protesting against illegal persecution – he was detained when he was doing his job, the press service of the Belarusian Association of Journalists reports.
Barazenka was detained at a street action in Minsk on March 25. Minsk Maskouski District Court sentenced him to a 15-day arrest for ‘petty hooliganism’ on Monady. Alyaksandr Barazenka is in the detention centre in Akrestsina Street now. Journalists Maryna Kastylyanchanka (15 days), Syarhei Kiyko (12 days), Raman Pratasevcih (10 days) and Dzyanis Ivashyn (5 days) are servicing their sentences there. BAJ is urging to send them letters of support.
BAJ members Leanid Svetsik (15 days), Kanstanstin Mardzvintsau (15 days) and Artsyom Sizintsau (10 days) have been jailed in Vitsebsk.
