Dadayev refuses to plead guilty of Nemtsov’s murder

Moscow City Court considered the appeals of people suspected of the murder of Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov on April 1. Three suspects were let off. Only the principal, Zaur Dadayev, is still in jail. Moscow City Court refuted his lawyers’ appeals and announced that the prolongation of his arrest for two months was legal, RBK reports.

Dadayev was not present in the court room and took part in the hearing in a video conference.

Dadayev’s lawyer Ivan Gerasimov claimed that his defendant was actively cooperating with investigators and was not going to hide from the court.

Dadayev claimed that he was at home at the moment of the murder. According to him, there are witnesses. “There are no photos or videos showing me at the spot of the murder or near Nemtsov’s house. There is only evidence given under pressure,” he said.

He gave the evidence because he had been abducted and investigators threatened his and Ruslan Yusopov’s life, Dadayev claimed. The evidence was dictated to him by investigators, Dadayev insists.
