Caesium-137 in mushrooms exceeds norm by 40% in Minsk Region

Specialists of the state institution Bellesahova have checked the level of radioactive cesium-137 in Belarusian mushrooms. The norm has been exceeded in all Belarusian mushrooms expect for the ones picked in Vitebsk Region.

 

The norm has been exceeded by 19% in Brest Region, 45% - in Homel Region, 10% - in Hrodna Region, 40% - in Minsk Region and 25% - in Mahilyou Region.

 

The content of ceasium-137 exceeds the norm (370 Bk/kg, RDU-99) in 37% of all mushrooms checked this year.

High levels of caesium-137 has been revealed in mushrooms picked in Cherykau forestry of Mahilyou Region (2148 Bk/kg in russules), Byarezin forestry of Minsk Region (3380 Bk/kg in russules), Lelchysty forestry of Homel Region (6851 Bk/kg in cepes) and Stolin forestry of Brest Region (5200 Bk/kg in chanterelles).

At the same time, the level of ceaseium-137 in mushrooms and berries has been gradually decreasing for 5 years. However, the level of cesium-137 was exceeded in 37% of bilberries checked this year.
