Belarusian-Polish border customs check-points are paralyzed

Polish customs officers have started their strike this morning. Belarusians are not recommended to go to Poland and Poles are not advised to visit Belarus. Only trains are still reliable. The State Border Committee predicts that long queues are likely to appear at the Belarusian-Polish border before the evening. The head of the press-service of the State Border Committee Alyaksandr Tsishchanka told ERB about the situation at the Belarusian-Polish border:

“Polish customs officers have blocked check-points “Damachava” and “Warsaw Bridge”. And there is only one customs officer present at every other check-point. Registration is very slow; only one car can pass at a time”.

Moreover, ERB has found out that the majority of cars that are allowed to pass do not need to be registered, for example, diplomatic cars.

The Belarusian State Border Committee is unaware of demands of Polish customs officers and the terms of their action. Poles have not presented any official documents or appeals.

The Border Committee gives advice to citizens of our country. Alyaksandr Tsishchanka says:

“We suggest citizens who are going to visit Poland drop the idea for now. Otherwise, you may be stuck in an unpleasant situation and wait in long queues. As far as I know, Polish Customs warns Poles going to Belarus that they may not be able to return…”

Customs officers recommend using trains because they are working according to the usual schedule. Nobody knows what happens later.

Let us remind you that the previous strike took place at Polish-Ukrainian border. Now it has reached the Belarusian border. There were dozen kilometer queues at the Ukrainian-Polish border.
