Belarusian journalists detained in Cherkasy (updated)

Two journalists of the Polish TV channel BELSAT Syarhei Marchyk and Yury Vysotski were detained, the Union of Polish Journalists claimed. Marchyk was wounded in the head. Both journalists are Belarusian citizens.  The Belarusians may be deported to Belarus instead of Poland, UNIAN notes.

The BELSAT journalists were making a big report about the protests and journalists’ work. Vysotski is in the police office and Marchyk is in hospital now. However, he is guarded by policemen there. The journalists’ equipment and documents have been confiscated.

Journalists were accredited as reporters of Polish TVP. BELSAT is its structural unit.

The Polish journalists were preparing a protest action in Cherkasy. Euroradio has found out that Syarhei Marchyk and Yury Vysotski have already been released and are heading for Kiev.
