Belarusian film to compete for Oscar (video)

It can compete for the prestigious Oscar prize as a short film now.

The film was created by Belarus (Belarusian Video Centre), Russia, the Czech Republic, Poland and USA. This is a unique chance for the Belarusian filmmaking. No Belarusian film has ever passed the selection tour before. The long list will be announced in mid-January 2014. Five finalists will be selected. The prize will be traditionally awarded in Los Angeles. The ceremony is appointed for March 2.

The 2-minute film is about a Jewish girl who fell in love, got married and was happy until the World War II began. There are no faces in the film – you can only see people’s feet.
