Belarus-EU negotiations to continue in Minsk in March

Ms Kupchyna visited the European Commission, European External Action Service and the European Parliament on January 29 and 30.

The visit focused on the official start of negotiations between the Republic of Belarus and the European Commission on simplifying visa issues and readmission.  The next round of the negotiations will begin in Minsk in March.

The prospects of the Belarusian-European dialogue and the practical cooperation between Belarus and the EU (including the Eastern Partnership and technical cooperation) were discussed at the meeting of Alena Kupchyna and European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle (in the photo).

Minister for Foreign Affairs Uladzimir Makei mentioned the intention to start negotiations on the visa regime simplification with the EU at the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius on November 29, 2013. Belarus is ready to negotiate because it is our President’s guideline, he said. Ordinary Belarusians will benefit from such changes most, Makei noted.
