Belarus will purchase a batch of Sukhoi-30CM fighter jets from Moscow following the deal signed by the two countries, reports TASS quoting Dmitry Shugayev, director of Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation. According to the official, the contract "will be implemented gradually in line with the approved schedule." It is yet to be known how many aircraft will be supplied.

Belarus Air Force and Air Defense Commander Major General Aleh Dzvihalyou said earlier Minsk planned to buy Su-30 fighters from Russia. He also mentioned plans to purchase one more batch of Yak-130 trainer jets.

Su-30CM is a multipurpose highly maneuverable fighter aircraft, carrying sophisticated air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons. It is designed to destroy sea-surface, aerial and ground targets any time and in all weather conditions.
