Authorities okay a remote route for European March
Minsk City Hall has authorized the opposition-staged European March on October 14 from the Academy of Sciences to Bangalore Square, according to the official response issued by the municipal authorities in the evening of October 9. The organizers filed their application on August 14.
The rally will be held with the slogans: "Meeting 12 EU proposals is a guarantee to economic and energy security of Belarus", "For Freedom! For Belarus!", etc.
The list of organizers includes opposition leaders Aliaksandr Milinkevich, Vintsuk Viachorka, Anatol Liabedzka, Zmitser Khvedaruk and Yauhen Afnahel, who was yesterday arrested for 10 days. The pro-democracy forces are holding a press conference in Minsk to announce the opposition's plans on October 14.
