Alyaksei Karol: Zdzvіzhkou may be released at any moment
A journalist Alyaksandr Zdzvizhkou is supposed to be released from Minsk confinement cell in Valadarski Street today.
He was sentenced to three years of imprisonment “for arousing religious animosity” in December, but the Supreme Court reduced the term to three months (he has already served this sentence). Zdvizhkou was not present at the hearing – he has recently been taken to prison hospital because of vision problems.
The former editor-in-chief of the “Zhoda” newspaper Alyaksei Karol says that Zdvizhkou may be released at any moment:
“It all depends on the bureaucratic system now. Documents from the court have to be sent to the confinement cell, then they will be signed and he will be released”.
