Aliaksandra Sasnovich drops out of Miami Open

Aliaksandra Sasnovich has been defeated by German Carina Witthöft — 2:6, 6:4, 1:6, Pressball reports.

Another Belarusian player, Volha Havarstova, has also dropped out of the tournament. She lost to Zarina Dias of Kazakhstan in the first round— 0:6, 1:6.

Victoria Azarenka, World No.8, will play in Miami in the second round. She has already won the tournament twice – in 2009 and 2010. Azarenka will compete with Mónica Puig (67) from Puerto Rico, BELTA reports. It will be the first meeting of the two players in a WTA tournament.

Maksim Mirny and Filipino Treat Huey will compete with Americans Eric Butorac and Scott Lipsky in the first round of the doubles.
