7-year-old boy from Belarus wins US chess championship

Yahor Hrynko, 7 from the Belarusian city of Homiel has won the US junior chess championship in his age category, reports tut.by.

The schoolboy arrived with his family to live in Foster City just six months ago. His expat parents work in IT under a contract.

It was Yahor's mother who taught him to play chess before the boy continued his chess training at a sports school in Homiel with coach Maryna Tserashkova. 

Before his triumph in the US, Yahor Hrynko has won four local tournaments in Belarus.
