50 thousand signatures in support of Vasil Bykau Street in Minsk are stolen

The flat were the signatures were kept was robbed on the evening of July 6. Activists of the “Tell the Truth!” campaign rented the flat in order to count, check and prepare the signatures for sending them to Minsk City Executive Committee. The press secretary of the campaign Yuliya Rymasheuskaya has informed ERB that nothing but 50 thousand signatures has disappeared from the flat.

Yuliya Rymasheuskaya: “We wanted to do it accurately and rented a flat for it. We needed to check and count everything once again before sending it to the City Executive Committee. However, the flat got robbed yesterday, on July 6. We have written that it was robbed by strangers in our press-release but… to cut it short, it was robbed. About 50 thousand signatures were lost due to it. Nothing but the signatures was stolen from the flat”.

The activists of the campaign called the police and a report was drawn up. On the whole, Yuliya Rymasheuskaya says that it seems that signatures in support of commemoration of Vasil Bykau are being hunted for – the car containing 30 thousand signatures was evacuated from the yard where it was legally parked on July 5.

The car was sealed up and the fate of the signatures is still unknown. About 10 thousand signatures got confiscated during the search in the company’s office at Masherov Street, 54 on May 18.
