50-km cycle track to connect Hrodna and Druskininkai

A 50-km cycle track will connect Hrodna and Lithuanian Druskininkai. BelTA informs about it referring to the Mayor of the city Ričardas Malinauskas. According to the Mayor, this is the most real project discussed by the two cities. The Lithuanian part of the track has been preserved since the Soviet time but it needs major repairs. Hrodna part of the track will have to be built “from scratch”.
The Mayors are looking for a way to get a grant from the EU to build the cycle track with the help of one of the programmes of transborder cooperation. Negotiations have already been conducted with heads of border structures and customs. The track is planned to run alongside of an acting check-point Pryvalka.
