The 97th anniversary of the proclamation of independence of the Belarusian People's Republic was marked on March 25 by a street rally in Minsk.

The ground on Bangalore Square was cordoned off. Some people refused to go inside in protest, but it is not clear what it was.
Four police trucks and two buses with young people in sports clothes are parked atthe crossroads near Kulman and Bahdanovich streets. Next to them is a Ford SUV with special forces.

15:15 About 1,000 people have gathered. This is already an achievement. There are flags. People are handing out BPR cards. There are several Ukrainian flags.
14:55 About 200 mostly young people gathered before the Kastrychnik cinema, some with flags on their shoulders. Opposition leaders aren't there yet. Two police trucks and 4 buses with police are parked near BNTU.
On March 25, on the Freedom Day, will be held street rally permitted by the city authorities. Participants will get together on 15.00 at the Kastrychnik cinema then march to the Bangalore Square from 16.00 to 17.00. At 18.00 there is planned a rally in the Peoples' Friendship park. The main themes of the rally are protection of the independence and peace, solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
Today it was announced that musicians, for various reasons, refused to take part in the rally.
