Youth activist gets 10 days of arrest in Minsk

The Maskowski District Court in Minsk on July 27 sentenced Zmicier Khvedaruk, a youth activist, to 10 days of administrative arrest.

He was found guilty of petty hooliganism. Police witnesses said that Khvedaruk was allegedly "cursing in a public place".  On July 26, the youngster came to a local court to support Kanstantsin Lukashow, the brother to a prominent opposition politician, who stood trial on charges of an assualt on a police officer.

After the trial, Zmicier Khvedaruk came out of the court building but was shortly detained by police agents at a bus stop and taken to a police custody, according to Belapan.
