Ukraine to switch to nuclear power
The country is planning to increase the production of nuclear energy by 2.5 times by 2030 and increase the capacity of its NPPs to 29.5 million kilowatt-hours, reports Radio Liberty. That is why two additional power units will be placed in operation at Hmelnitskaya NPP by the end of 2016. Their capacity will be the same as the capacity of Atsravets NPP that is going to be built in Belarus (2 million kWh).
At the moment Ukraine has four NPPs providing 47.1% of energy consumed by the country. It supplies its NPPs with a third of the fuel they need. The country is planning to start exporting atomic energy in 2015.
