Ukraine may pay Soviet debts to Belarus
Ukraine will return 50 million dollars – an enterprises’ debt dating back to the Soviet time - to Belarus. The agreement is said to have been reached during the recent negotiations of Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Victor Yushchenko in Kiev, reports “Businessman-Ukraine”. According to the edition referring to its source in the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the payment schedule provides for supplies of Ukrainian energy to Belarus at a cut price. Ukrainian companies will operate at a loss. However, Ukraine hopes to become the main exporter of energy to Belarus in the future.
