UDF leadership to discuss 'Lyaukovich case' today

"Справу Анатоля Ляўковіча" The 'Anatol Lyaukovich' case is to be discussed today by the leadership of the United Democracy Forces (UDF). The opposition members seem to be outraged by the comments of Lyaukovich -- who is the chairman of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) on the pages of the presidential newspaper Sovietskaya Belorussia.
Anatol Lyabedzka, the leader of the United Civic Party, said Lyaukovich's interview was not in line with the position of the United Democracy Forces. If it turns out that the party shares the views of its leader, the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada) could be expelled from UDF, reports bdg.by.

Anatol Lyaukovich told Sovietskaya Belorussia that the pro-democracy forces should have not oppose Lukashenka's rule, because "he was elected and has been supported by the majority of the people". According to Lyaukovich, the opposition has been fighting against the majority of the population.

He also noted that his party would be insistent in finding contacts with the authorities in order "to become a full-fledged subject of the systemic political process".
