Prosecutor General asked to free youth activist Kim

Raman Kislyak, a civil activist from Brest, and several other local pro-democracy activists have sent a letter to Belarus's Prosecutor General Ryhor Vasilyevich, demanding to free youth activist Andrei Kim.


Kislyak maintains that from January 31 through February 2 Kim was not brought to a judge in order to hear the issue about his custody. This is a violation of the International Pact on Political Rights, reports Belapan.

Andrei Kim was detained on January 21 for taking part in the protest of small-size entrepreneurs in Minsk. He was not freed after having served his 10-days arrest term. A criminal case was opened aginst Kim on charges of violence against a police officer.
