Pavel Sevyarynets gets no passport punch allowing travels abroad

Pavel Sevyarynets has taken back his passport from Pershamaiski District of Vitsebsk Department of migration today. He wanted to get a punch allowing him “travels to different countries of the world”. There was no punch in his passport – the Belarusian authorities did everything they could to prevent the former political prisoner from leaving the country. Pavel Sevyarynets was not surprised:

“Propably it is their response to the State Department’s sanctions. It is a kind of “slight revenge”: is you do not let us enter your country we will not let people go to you.  We can also complicate the procedure of leaving the country”.

According to Sevuyarynets, he sent the documents needed to get the punch on June 23. The officials gave them back 1.5 months later – twice longer than the usual term of three weeks.

“Then they told me: no, your appeal has been cancelled, you can send documents again but there are some problems about you…”

It means that Pavel will not be able to make trips he had been planning to make:

“I had several invitations to go to Lithuania (Vilnius), to Poland (Warsaw) and to Belgium.

The only hope is that the necessity of receiving punches allowing travels abroad will be cancelled starting from January 1, 2008. It is not difficult to guess that this is more likely to happen rather then Pavel Sevyarynets getting the punch.
