Lukashenka has to make friends in the West - The Wall Street Journal
A famous American edition The Wall Street Journal describes the changes that have been taking place in Belarus lately. It mentions the release of political prisoners and the coming opening of a representative office of the European Commission in Minsk.
According to the newspaper, the authorities’ actions allow the West to establish closer relations with Belarus. However, The Wall Street Journal notes that there is “no good will” in the actions of the official Minsk.
The reason for the changes was Lukashenka’s comprehension of the fact that the West will not establish relations with Belarus if politicians and journalists remain imprisoned. Lukashenka badly needs to make friends in the West now, writes the edition.
