Gas transit to Lithuania via Belarus growing back to normal
The pressure in the natural gas transportation system of Lithuania that receives gas from Russia via Belarus is growing, Lietuvos dujos spokesperson Sigita Pjatrikonite-Jurkunene said on June 24. She did not elaborate by how much the natural gas supplies to Lithuania had been restored. Consumers in Lithuania and Russia's Kaliningrad region are now receiving natural gas in full.
According to the spokesperson, Lithuania has enough gas, because it is summer and thermal stations do not consume gas necessary to produce hot water. Besides, Achema chemicals plant -- Lithuania's biggest natural gas consumer - has currently reduced consumption due to a smaller workload.
