EU officially includes Belarus in “Eastern partnership” programme
The European Union has officially included Belarus in the programme “Eastern partnership”. This decision was taken after a meeting of leaders of 27 EU member states in Brussels on Monday, reports the news agency “RIA Novosti”.
The reason for inclusion of our country in the programme “Eastern partnership” was the necessity of Belarusian authorities’ steps aimed at democratic reforms.
The programme will be started by participants of the project in Prague on May 7. According to the programme “Eastern partnership”, six former Soviet republics including Belarus will receive 350 million euro of financial assistance by 2013.
Besides our country, the programme includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
