Entrepreneur in Minsk sentenced to 10 days of arrest

Mikalai Sergienka, an activist with the entrepreneurship movement, today was sentenced by a Minsk court to 10 days of administrative arrest.
On December 6, police raided the office of the Belarusian Congress of Democratic Trade Unions and detained activists Aliaksandr Makayeu, Aleh Korban, Mikalai Sergienka and Nadzya Syankevich who were in the office at the moment of the search.

Police confiscated printed materials and a copying machine. All the detainees were escorted to a local police station. Syankevich was released after identification. Makayeu, Korban and Sergienka were charged with alleged petty hooliganizm.

Sergienka was scheduled to appear in court on December 12, but the hearing was postponed because not all of his witnesses had testified, reports Belapan.
