Belarus hopes to get 4 million tons of Venezuelan oil

Alyaksandr Lukashenka hopes that Belarus will manage to import 4 million tons of Venezuelan oil in 2010. “This is the first step to our state’s independence. We have to do it, cost what it may”, — said Lukashenka commenting on Venezuelan oil supplies. The President reproached Belarusian officials with the fact that they started working in the Venezuelan direction too late. “Why did we sleep so long and did not start cooperating with Venezuela earlier? Why don’t we start cooperating with other states in the region while they are waiting for it? <...> Latin America is not only Venezuela, we have to move to the centre of the continent and develop new promising markets”, - informs his press service.
